The Holy Quran was revealed to Muslims in the Arabic language by Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala – the Glorious and the Exalted). Allah states in the Quran: “We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran, in order that you may learn wisdom.” (12:2) Among all sacred texts, it stands as the greatest, distinguished by its revelation to His final Prophet. The Quran is unique among divine scriptures, as it remains unchanged from its original form as sent by Allah. In the Quran, Allah assures us that He is the guardian of this sacred text. Allah declares: “It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e., the Quran) and surely, We will guard it from corruption.” (15:9)

Tarteel wa Tajweed
“The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it to others.”
Tarteel
In Surah Muzammil, verse 4 of the Holy Qur’an, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) commands: “and recite the Quran in slow, measured rhythmic tones.” Tarteel is an Arabic term that describes the manner of reciting the Holy Qur’an. It refers to the way the angel Jibreel (AS) recited it to the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). Tarteel emphasizes the slow, thoughtful recitation of the Holy Qur’an with correct pronunciation. Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala – the Glorious and the Exalted) says in the Holy Qur’an: “Those to whom We have delivered the Book recite it as it ought to be recited…” (Al-Baqarah 2:121).
Tajweed
In Arabic, the word Tajweed means “improving” or “to make something better.” In the context of reading the Holy Qur’an, it refers to “beautifying the recitation of the Qur’an by reciting in a much slower manner than Tarteel.” While praying, one is supposed to recite the verses of the Holy Qur’an with Tarteel, not Tajweed. To learn Tajweed, one must first learn Tarteel. Tajweed involves precise knowledge of the Arabic alphabet, their phonetic sounds, and the significance of the different kinds of pauses used in the verses of the Holy Qur’an. It is essential for every Muslim (male or female) to be capable of reading the Holy Qur’an with correct accent and pronunciation. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Adorn the Qur’an with your voices.” (Narrated by Abu Dawud & Nasai) The importance of Tajweed can be well understood by this Hadith.
We offer online courses for Tarteel wa Tajweed, aiming to teach the correct pronunciation and phonetic sounds of the letters of the Qur’an. To avoid any mistakes by learners while reciting the Qur’an, all the rules of Tajweed will be thoroughly explained by the teachers and practiced by the learners. Various illustrated charts will be used to help pronounce Arabic alphabets by our capable teachers. We ensure that students learn important verses from the Holy Qur’an that are read in prayers. All the course content is designed to cater to various age groups, considering their learning abilities.
